Martin Luther King People's Convention for Justice and Resistance

On April 26, 2025, RWDSU Local 108 proudly participated in the Martin Luther King People's Convention for Justice and Resistance, held at Essex County College in Newark, New Jersey. Organized by the People's Organization for Progress (POP), the convention brought together over 65 organizations to develop a unified agenda addressing pressing social and economic justice issues.

Charles N. Hall Jr., President of RWDSU Local 108, emphasized the importance of collective action in the face of challenges to civil rights and labor protections. He stated, "During the first 100 days of the Trump presidency, we have witnessed a direct attack on those who are the most vulnerable in our country. The people’s convention will help us find ways of working together to fight back against this onslaught."

The convention featured a diverse array of speakers and workshops, focusing on topics such as labor rights, racial justice, environmental concerns, and political reform. Attendees collaborated to draft resolutions aimed at creating actionable solutions for their communities.

RWDSU Local 108's involvement in the convention underscores its commitment to advocating for workers' rights and social justice. By uniting with other organizations, Local 108 continues to honor Dr. King's legacy and work towards a more equitable society.
